CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — West Virginia State Parks officials announced that members of the public are invited to attend an open house to celebrate the opening of Slabtown Campground at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park. The open house celebrating the milestone is scheduled for Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Located close to the Greenbrier River and Greenbrier River Trail, the new campground has 100 campsites, a camp store, bathhouses, and a laundry facility. The campground offers select sites for equestrian campers. These sites are conveniently located and come equipped with corrals and plenty of space for camping. Designed by Ghosh Engineers and built by High Point Construction, the campground offers both full-hookup sites and electric and water sites. The campground is open year-round. Hookups are available seasonally, April through October, weather permitting. Primitive and fully contained camping remains available November through March. “The opening of Slabtown Campground at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park marks a major milestone in our mission to enhance the visitor experience while honoring West Virginia’s rich industrial heritage,” said West Virginia State Parks Acting Chief of Parks Dillard Price. “By providing additional lodging opportunities and essential amenities, we are making it easier than ever for hikers, bikers and rail enthusiasts to explore the beauty and history of the region.”
Refreshments will be provided for visitors and the camp store will have special offers with purchases.
