CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A teacher at Holz Elementary School has been arrested after assaulting a 3-year-old disabled child, according to the West Virginia State Police (WVSP).
Authorities say the incident occurred on Tuesday, April 1, at the school on Hampton Road.
Sr. Trooper Lewis began an investigation after receiving a report from the WVSP South Charleston Communications Center.
Investigators determined that Patricia Summerfield, 55, of Charleston, grabbed the child and dragged her across the floor, causing minor injuries.
Two school employees witnessed the incident.
Summerfield was arrested and charged with battery and assault of a disabled child.
The investigation remains ongoing.
