LINCOLN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Lincoln County woman is facing child neglect charges after allegedly threatening to kill everyone in her home, prompting a police response early Tuesday morning.
At approximately 6:31 a.m. on March 4, 2025, CPL. J.K. Ramey and SffPR J.D. Reedy were dispatched to 87 Water Lane in Yawkey, WV, after a 911 caller reported that Amanda Gillenwater was making threats against household members.
Authorities were informed that four children were inside the home at the time of the incident. The caller stated that the children were being taken to the end of the road for school to separate them from Gillenwater.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with Joseph Gillenwater, who stated that Amanda Gillenwater had begun saying that God was telling her to kill people. In response, he removed all knives from the residence and ensured the children were kept away until they left for school.
Joseph Gillenwater also informed police that Amanda Gillenwater has undergone multiple mental health evaluationsbut has refused treatment.
Following the investigation, Trooper Reedy requested an arrest warrant for child neglect creating a risk of injuryunder West Virginia Code 61-8D-4. The case remains under investigation.
