WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Heavy rain from widespread thunderstorms has created multiple flooding issues across the state Thursday evening.
As of 11:15 PM, reports of flooding have started to spread over social media.
There have been numerous reports stretching from Ohio County to Logan County.
Mud slides, downed trees, and high water have shut down numerous roads across the state, according to West Virginia 511.
Most notably, the West Virginia Turnpike near the toll booths at mile marker 77.5 is shut down northbound as of this writing.
As reports continue to spread, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey made the following post on X:
There are flash flood warnings across the state throughout the evening. Please follow all local emergency orders and alerts and do not attempt to drive through flooded streets, as most fatalities from flooding occur in vehicles.
My administration is standing by to assist any communities as needed.
West Virginia Senator Jim Justice also made a post on X Thursday evening:
“Storms are rolling through West Virginia, and flash flood warnings are in effect again.
We’ve had a rough couple of weeks, and I’m praying the weather takes it easy on us and passes soon.
Please stay safe and stay alert.”
