CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A much-needed soaking rain is moving across the region today, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston.
The widespread rainfall is expected to continue throughout the day, with some areas in the northern West Virginia mountains possibly experiencing patchy freezing rain Thursday morning.
The freezing rain is forecast to transition to regular rain by late morning.
Breezy conditions will accompany the rain but are expected to diminish by this evening.
Additional showers are possible on Friday, particularly in the northeast mountains, as moisture from the Great Lakes moves into the area due to northwesterly winds.
The chance of showers will decrease by Saturday morning, as high pressure sets in, leading to a dry and pleasant weekend.
The NWS also predicts milder temperatures heading into next week.
