PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Adam B. Wolfe officially began his tenure as the judge of the Twelfth Family Court Circuit, which covers McDowell and Mercer Counties, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Governor Jim Justice appointed Wolfe to the bench on August 14 to fill the remainder of the term left vacant by his predecessor’s resignation on July 12.
Wolfe’s current term will end on December 31, 2024, after which he will begin an eight-year term, following his election to the seat in May.
Although Wolfe has already been sworn in, he will hold a public investiture ceremony at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, in the courtroom of Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge Ryan Flanigan at the Mercer County Courthouse.
West Virginia Supreme Court Justice John Hutchison will administer the oath of office.
Notably, the ceremony will fall on the eleventh anniversary of Wolfe’s admission to the legal profession, and it also marks his father’s birthday.
Wolfe, a native of Philippi, holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Concord University (2003) and earned his law degree from the Appalachian School of Law in 2013.
His legal career includes positions with the Public Defender Corp. for the Ninth Judicial Circuit and Mountain State Justice, where he focused on helping West Virginians protect their homes.
Wolfe has also served as an assistant prosecuting attorney, specializing in felony crimes against children, and previously ran his own law firm.
In addition to his legal work, Wolfe has been actively involved in the community. He is a past president of the Concord University Alumni Association and a recipient of the association’s Young Alumnus Award in 2014.
Wolfe also serves on the board of the Planet X-treme Teen Center and is a director of the Rotary Club of Princeton.
He is an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 1 in Princeton and serves on the District Committee for the Mountain Dominion District of the Buckskin Council, Boy Scouts of America.
The public is invited to attend Wolfe’s investiture ceremony on October 24.
