RIPLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Ripley woman is facing charges after a domestic dispute turned violent in Jackson County, involving frozen hamburger, a knife, and a bowl of oil.
According to authorities, the incident occurred during the evening hours of August 2 at an apartment on Hudson Place Drive. Police say Destiny Lail got into a heated argument with John Rhodes over her communication with another man.
After briefly leaving the apartment, Lail returned and the confrontation escalated. Investigators report that she retrieved a bag of frozen hamburger from the freezer and struck Rhodes in the head with it while he was in the laundry room. She then allegedly hit him multiple times and began throwing objects.
The situation intensified when Lail reportedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen counter and attempted to stab Rhodes. He was able to wrestle the knife away and walk away from the confrontation, but Lail allegedly continued her assault — throwing a bowl of oil and a glass of tea at him.
Lail is charged with domestic battery.
