JUMPING BRANCH, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Summers County man says his truck was stolen by a woman staying at his property while he was out of town, according to law enforcement.
Deputies say the incident was reported on April 17, 2026, around 1:30 p.m., when William Morrison contacted authorities to report his 2011 Dodge 3500 missing from his residence on Suck Creek Road in Jumping Branch.
Morrison told investigators that the suspect, identified as Hannah Romanella, had been living at the home he owns. While he was away, he was notified that his truck was gone and that Romanella had taken the vehicle.
Deputies attempted to contact Romanella using a phone number provided during the investigation, but were unable to reach her. A person who answered the phone told deputies she was not there. Authorities instructed that Romanella return the vehicle and contact law enforcement, but officials say she has failed to comply.
According to the Summers County Sheriff’s Office, officers with the Hinton Police Department reported seeing Romanella driving the truck on multiple occasions. At one point, she was stopped for a traffic infraction and was instructed to return to the police department with proof of insurance. She reportedly never returned.
Morrison told deputies he never gave Romanella permission to take the truck, which is valued at approximately $15,000.
The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are working to locate both the suspect and the missing vehicle.
