MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Princeton woman was arrested Thursday night after deputies responded to reports of someone attempting to break into a residence and later learned she had an active warrant, according to authorities.
Deputies H.D. Steele and B.A. Rode responded around 9:38 p.m. to a home on Lacy Street in Princeton. When they arrived, they made contact with Jeannie Clemons on the front porch. Deputies reported the front window of the residence was shattered and the door showed signs it had been struck.
While speaking with Clemons, officers said they detected a strong odor of alcohol and observed slurred speech. Clemons reportedly admitted to drinking and became argumentative during the investigation. Deputies also noted a bleeding cut on her hand that appeared consistent with contact with broken glass.
During the response, another resident arrived and told deputies she planned to grab a coat and leave due to Jeannie Clemons’ intoxication and behavior. Both women live at the residence.
Dispatchers then advised deputies that Jeannie Clemons had an active Mercer County warrant for violation of a personal safety order. When officers attempted to arrest her, Clemons allegedly became loud and non-compliant, repeatedly dropping herself to the ground and refusing to walk despite previously being seen moving around the porch.
After multiple warnings, deputies used a two-officer carry technique to escort Clemons to a patrol vehicle. Authorities also reported she continued shouting profanities and causing a disturbance in the mobile home park.
Clemons was transported to Princeton Community Hospital for medical clearance. Hospital staff later reported she remained aggressive, yelling and using profane language toward officers and healthcare workers.
Jeannie Clemons was arrested on the outstanding violation of a personal safety order warrant and additionally charged with disorderly conduct.
