MATHENY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Matheny woman was arrested Monday night following a reported domestic violence incident that included alleged threats and physical assault, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department.
On January 12, 2025, at about 9:42 p.m., Cpl. Jacob Ellison and Cpl. Zach Cook responded to a 911 call reporting a physical domestic disturbance at a residence in Matheny.
When deputies arrived, they made contact with the caller, who reported an argument with Jennifer Fortner escalated into violence. The caller told deputies Fortner grabbed her arm, pulled her, and threatened to kill her and burn the house down. The victim also reported the home was heavily damaged during the altercation.
While on scene, deputies were advised by Wyoming County 911 that Fortner had an active capias warrant. Fortner was then located inside the residence, detained, and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.
Cpl. Cook obtained an audio statement from the victim detailing the alleged assault and threats. Fortner was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department for processing.
Jennifer Fortner was arrested and charged with domestic battery.
