FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Hilltop woman was arrested Tuesday evening following a domestic disturbance that left a man with visible facial injuries, according to a criminal complaint.
Deputies responded around February 10, 2026, to a reported domestic incident that was no longer in progress at a home on Patteson Heights Road in Hilltop.
When officers arrived, they made contact with a man in the driveway identified as Julian Riffle, who had apparent injuries on the right side of his face. According to the complaint, Riffle initially told the responding officer that his son had scratched him but indicated others inside the home would not give the same explanation. Officers photographed the injuries before speaking with additional witnesses.
Inside the residence, the 911 caller, Dianna Hughes, told police she heard a commotion in the living room and went to investigate. She reported seeing her sister, Leeanna Hughes, physically striking her boyfriend during an argument. She said she then called 911.
According to the report, Leeanna Hughes first denied that any physical fight occurred, stating arguments had taken place but were not violent. She later admitted she and Riffle had a physical confrontation and described it as “wrestling” after an argument.
Another witness, identified as Connie Hughes, told officers she entered the living room and saw Leeanna Hughes on top of Riffle, hitting him. She provided a written statement to investigators. Dianna Hughes declined to submit a written statement.
Leeanna Hughes was arrested at the scene and charged with domestic battery. She was taken into custody without further incident.
