WYOMING COUNTY, WV — A Wyoming County man was arrested late Sunday night after deputies say he waved a handgun, made threats, and pointed the weapon at himself and a juvenile after he was awakened due to a loud truck.
According to a criminal complaint, Cpl. Hunter Walker with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10:45 p.m. on February 8, 2026, to a brandishing complaint in the Simon area.
Deputies spoke with two victims, including a juvenile, who provided written statements. One victim reported he was up the road getting his truck when a friend arrived and had to back out after encountering another vehicle. After the friend left, the suspect — identified as Adam Toler — allegedly approached carrying a black pistol, waving it around and questioning who owned a loud truck in the area.
The complaint states Toler allegedly pointed the gun at himself and the juvenile and struck himself in the head with it. The juvenile told deputies that Toler said he would shoot out windows and “blow his own brains out” before returning to his camper. The weapon was described as a black 9mm pistol.
Deputies then went to Toler’s residence and were allowed inside. While there, officers reported seeing a black Canik TP9 9mm pistol on a nightstand. They also observed items commonly associated with drug use, including foil, a plastic straw, small baggies, and an open Suboxone packet in plain view.
After being advised of his Miranda rights, Toler told deputies he found the gun in the road and did not believe it worked. He also reportedly admitted to using Suboxone without a prescription.
Toler was taken into custody and transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing. A criminal history check showed a prior domestic battery conviction in 2015.
