OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Oceana woman is accused of sleeping in a bed of a house she didn’t own, which had caught fire the previous day, along with obstructing police by telling them her birthday was “Thanksgiving”.
According to State Police, on Saturday, April 15, 2023, a homeowner went to a house she owned that had caught fire the day before and found a woman asleep in a bed in the house. The homeowner told police that the woman sleeping in the house was Holly Dehart of Oceana. Dehart left, and police found her walking on WV Rt. 10 outside the Oceana City limits.
When police started talking to Dehart, they could smell marijuana and noticed she was covered in soot. Dehart told police she had gone to the burnt house the previous night and decided to sleep there to wait for the caller. She stated she did not live there and acknowledged the caller did not want her there.
Police asked Dehart for her identification, but she said she didn’t have one. She gave the officer her name but said she didn’t have a middle name. Beckley Communication could not find a match for her name and date of birth that she gave, so he asked her to clarify her date of birth. At this time, the officer said, Dehart grinned and stated her date of birth was Thanksgiving.
Finally, Dehart gave the officer her date of birth, and they said she had a suspected license and her full name was Holly Amber Dehart of Oceana. When the officer asked Dehart to see the image of her from Beckley Communications to confirm it was her, she grinned and said she had no idea who that person was.
Dehart was arrested. While searching in a black bag, the officer found her driver’s license and found in her wallet two 8mg strips of Suboxone.
Dehart was charged with obstructing and possessing a controlled substance without a prescription. She is being held in Southern Regional Jail under an 880 dollar bond.
