ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman was arrested Wednesday for stealing items from a Walmart, and now faces felony shoplifting charges.
Reports from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office indicate that, on 9/14/22, Deputy Pingley responded to a Walmart at which a shoplifting incident was reported to have just occurred.
Loss Prevention employee Briana Mullenax met with the officer, advising that a shopper started concealing items in her purse while in the store’s toy section.
She then proceeded to the checkout register, having placed a lower price tag on one item.
Having paid only for some of the items she had acquired in the store, the woman proceeded past the final point of sale with items still concealed.
At this point, the woman was approached by Loss Prevention and the items were recovered.
Among the items recovered were a hand vacuum, batteries, and a spark plug, with the total amount of the items concealed in the shopper’s purse coming to $280.20.
The officer report revealed that, upon searching the shopper, she was discovered to have had enough cash on her person to have paid for the items.
She advised the officer of prior shoplifting convictions, and a 911 criminal history revealed several prior shoplifting convictions.
These occurred on 9/6/2018, 11/28/2018, and 3/24/2018. This instance was reported as the third subsequent offense, a felony.
She was then placed under arrest, transported to magistrate court, and arraigned on shoplifting 3rd offense. A bond was issued and she was transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
