SANDYVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic altercation in Jackson County took a fiery turn on the night of May 19, 2025, when a woman reportedly set toilet paper on fire inside her home in an attempt to scare her husband.
At approximately 9:44 p.m., Michael A. Wolfe called Jackson County 911 to report a domestic disturbance with his wife, Sara Wolfe, at their residence on Board Run Road in Sandyville. Multiple deputies, including Deputy A.D. Crow, Sergeant B.L. Williams, Sergeant B.L. Varney, and Deputies Thompson and Cullen, responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, deputies found Sara Wolfe in the yard, while others entered the home to speak with Michael. Inside, they were immediately met with the smell and sight of smoke. When asked if something was on fire, Michael said he could smell it too but didn’t know the source.
That’s when Sgt. Williams discovered smoldering toilet paper next to the living room couch.
When questioned, Michael told officers that Sara may have lit the paper to scare him. Outside, Sara Wolfe admitted to deputies that she intentionally set the fire, hoping it would cause her husband to leave the house. “I thought fire would make him run,” she reportedly said.
Deputies also found scorch marks on the floor and had to extinguish still-burning embers near the couch.
Sara Wolfe was arrested at the scene and charged with attempt to commit arson under WV Code 61-3-4(a).
