PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A woman was arrested and charged after stealing a U-Haul truck and failing to return it.
According to the Parkersburg Police Department, Patrolman D.P. Logan responded Thursday to U-Haul at 1402 Blizzard Drive in reference to a reported vehicle theft. The complainant, Kendrick Flinn, told officers that a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 single cab pickup—rented under contract #77035809—had not been returned and all attempts to reach the renter had been unsuccessful.
The truck, bearing Arizona plates AM49793, was rented on June 3 by Kimberly Joyce Godbey of Ohio. Per the agreement, the vehicle was scheduled to be returned by 8:15 a.m. on June 5. As of June 12, the truck was still missing.
Flinn said U-Haul staff attempted to contact Godbey approximately ten times via phone and text. Certified mail was also sent, and personnel visited the listed address with no success. On June 10, Godbey allegedly tried to extend the rental agreement, but the credit card she used was declined.
Given the failed return, lack of communication, and unsuccessful payment attempt, authorities are pursuing a warrant for theft of a rental vehicle. She was later arrested and charged.
