ALUM CREEK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Sunday, February 19, 2023, around 9:30 p.m., Deputy C.D. Moyers and Corporal H.L. Summers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 1500 block of Brook Road in Alum Creek.
The victim reported to deputies that his wife, Elizabeth A. Smock, 48 years old of Alum Creek, had returned home on Sunday evening intoxicated and engaged in an argument with him, which escalated to physical violence.
The victim alleges that Mrs. Smock was screaming and throwing things when she struck him in the back of the head. Mrs. Smock later retrieved a Smith and Wesson handgun from inside the house, which she pointed at the victim before throwing at him. The victim showed a video to deputies that he captured during the incident which shows Mrs. Smock pointing the firearm at him before throwing it at him.
Mrs. Smock was seen carelessly waving the firearm around on the front porch and making several attempts to fire the weapon. Deputies located a large kitchen knife on the living room floor which they viewed from the video, being thrown by Mrs. Smock toward the victim.
As a result of this investigation, Deputy Moyers placed Mrs. Smock under arrest for one felony count of wanton endangerment with a firearm, WV §61-07-12, and one misdemeanor count of domestic battery with a weapon, WV §61-02-28(A).
She was arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court and a bond was set at $1000.00 cash. Mrs. Smock is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail.
