SMITHERS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman is in jail after reportedly swinging metal lawnmower blades at employees at Grants Supermarket.
According to Smithers Police, on Saturday, May 8, they were dispatched to the area of Longacre beside Grants Supermarket in Smithers for a female swinging a metal object at the employees of Grants.
When officers arrived, Leah Paige was standing beside the roadway with two metal objects, later identified as lawnmower blades. Â Paige was shouting profanities and acting very belligerent. Â Police demanded Paige drop the weapons, but she refused and started approaching an officer while swinging the lawnmower blades aggressively.
When police withdrew a service weapon and continued to demand Paige drop the blades, she attempted to flee. Â Paige was actively resisting arrest, and pepper spray was used to gain control of her.
Paige is charged with obstructing, disorderly conduct, brandishing, and assault on an officer. Â She is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 2,000 dollar bond.
