WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A shooting incident on Saturday, December 14, 2024, led to the arrest of a local woman and the hospitalization of a man in Matheny, Wyoming County.
Cpl. M.C. Shifflette of the West Virginia State Police responded to a shooting complaint on Heron Street. Upon arrival, Cpl. Shifflette found 38-year-old Troy Morgan, a Matheny resident, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper left thigh. Acting quickly, Cpl. Shifflette applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding and administered lifesaving care.
Following an investigation, authorities arrested 62-year-old Rhonda Goins, also of Matheny. She was charged with Malicious Wounding and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person. Goins was later released on a $10,000 bond.
Morgan received medical treatment for his injuries and has since been released from care. The West Virginia State Police Crime Scene Response Team D processed the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
