WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman was arrested on multiple charges after her vehicle veered off Interstate 77 and into a wooded area near the northbound rest area on January 14, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
A passing semi-truck driver called 911 after noticing vehicle lights in the woods.
When a deputy arrived, they observed a gap in the guardrail and tire tracks in the snow leading to the vehicle.
Authorities found 52-year-old Tammy Renee Carter of Evans, WV, in the driver’s seat. Deputies reported a strong odor of alcohol coming from her.
Carter was arrested and charged with aggravated DUI, obstructing, second-offense DUI, failure to report an accident, and no proof of insurance.
She was transported to the holding center for processing. She is currently out on bond.
