GLEN FORK, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Wyoming County woman was taken into custody Tuesday following a reported custody dispute that escalated into alleged threats of violence and concerns over a child being taken out of state.
According to law enforcement, Sgt. Boothe responded on February 24, 2026, to a residence in Glen Fork after Wyoming County 911 received a complaint involving a custody-related situation and Child Protective Services assistance.
The caller reported that Billi Jean Sartin was threatening to take an adoptive juvenile child to Ohio against the legal guardian’s wishes. Authorities were also informed that CPS was en route to the location.
Upon arrival, Sgt. Boothe made contact with the victim, who stated Sartin had threatened to remove the child from West Virginia and take him across state lines. The victim further reported that Sartin made verbal threats to physically assault her if she contacted authorities after they left the property.
Police say the victim expressed genuine fear for her safety and believed the threats could be carried out.
Sgt. Boothe located Sartin on the same property in a nearby trailer and took her into custody without incident.
Sartin has been charged with Domestic Assault in connection with the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
