MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mount Hope woman is facing a child neglect charge.
According to Fayette County deputies, on June 25, 2021, deputies responded to a home in Mount Hope for a health and welfare check. Â When deputies arrived at the home, they tried to get someone to answer the door for around thirty minutes but were not successful. Â When they tried again, Alyssa Berry finally answered her door. Â When they entered the home, they observed dog feces on the floor. Â Also in the home was a glass bowl used to smoke narcotics and a bag of methamphetamine.
Deputies seized about 23 grams of meth worth about 4,600 dollars. Â Deputies noted that the toddler in the home had access to the entire house and that Berry said she had been asleep the entire day.
Berry is charged with child neglect and possession with intent. Â She is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 15,000 dollar bond.
