BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman was arrested and jailed after physically assaulting her boyfriend during a dispute over him going to purchase cookies at Walmart.
According to the West Virginia State Police report, on Sunday, June 16, 2024, officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a home in Beckley. The male victim had visible red scratch marks on his neck. He told the officers that his girlfriend, Ami Bennett, had argued with him after he was going to pick up his son and then stop at Walmart to buy cookies. Bennett allegedly became upset that he was leaving and pushed him into a light fixture, punched him in the face, and scratched his neck. The victim said he then restrained Bennett to prevent further assault.
When questioned, Bennett admitted to scratching the victim’s neck but claimed it was self-defense, alleging that her boyfriend had thrown her to the ground, choked her, and pulled her hair. However, police did not observe any marks on Bennett.
Bennett was charged with domestic battery for the assault on her boyfriend.
