BLUEWELL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wednesday afternoon investigation has led to the arrest of a Bluefield woman involved in a domestic dispute during which a chicken nugget and cup were thrown at the victim.
According to reports from Deputy T.A. Lacy of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at approximately 12:06pm, Deputy Lacy and Sgt. J.D. Ellison responded to a Warden Avenue residence in reference to a domestic disturbance.
Authorities were informed by the Mercer County E-911 center that the call came from a mother who stated her daughter had attacked her, and that the two continued screaming at one another.
Once authorities arrived at the residence, Deputy Lacy spoke with the mother, Rebecca Bergin, who exhibited a visible red mark on her neck and swollen knot on the left side of her head. Bergin advised that her daughter was in the bedroom down the hall.
Speaking with the daughter, Rhiannon Pullie, who was in the bedroom with her child, Deputy Lacy was advised by Pullie that there was indeed an altercation but that she had not started it. Pullie stated that Bergin had started to pull her hair and that the child began to scream, at which point she began hitting Bergin to get to the child.
Photographs of Bergin’s injuries were obtained by Sgt. Ellison along with a video statement explaining that Bergin had been at her desk at which she works from home. It was advised that Pullie had knocked all the items off the desk and that Bergin had continued to work in spite of this interference.
It was then stated that Pullie threw a chicken nugget at Bergin which struck her as she continued attempting to work. Pullie is then said to have thrown a cup at Bergin, which missed and began to leak liquid onto the electronics at the workstation.
Bergin advised that she cleaned the electronics up and sat back down at the desk, at which time Pullie struck her on the left side of her face with a closed fist. Bergin states that she was in fear for her safety and that the two began pulling each other’s hair. Pullie is further stated to have attempted choking Bergin during the exchange, though Bergin never lost consciousness.
No visible marks or injuries were observed on Pullie, and based on the evidence at the scene authorities placed the subject under arrest for Domestic Assault and Domestic Battery.
