BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – A woman caught selling laced drugs through a McDonald’s drive-thru and then causing a man’s overdose was sentenced by Judge Andrew Dimlich Wednesday morning.
Jirni Duncan pleaded guilty to drug delivery resulting in death in May of 2021. Duncan sold Erick Black, one of the restaurant’s employees, drugs through the Lester Square McDonald’s drive-thru in November of 2019.
Black was found dead in the restaurant’s bathroom after he took the drugs and overdosed.
The initial investigation was conducted by Sergeant Shane Meadows with the Sophia Police Department.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Joshua Thompson said reports showed that the drug was heroin laced with fentanyl. He also said Duncan knew the drugs were laced when she sold them to Black.
On Wednesday, Duncan was sentenced to five years in a penitentiary. She is currently in DOC custody awaiting transport.
