GLEN DANIEL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman is in jail after setting fire to her boyfriend’s home.
According to Raleigh County deputies, on September 7, 2021, a structure fire call was placed. The fire department called, stating that a female was on the scene, causing a disturbance and fighting with the firefighter after being told to leave the scene. Once a deputy arrived, he observed a female identified as Tanya Sue Kinzel being held down by one of the fire trucks after she had physically assaulted three members of the fire department.
The owner of the home stated he had left home to obtain a DVP against his girlfriend, Tanya Kinzel, and when he returned, his house was on fire. Other witnesses said that they observed Tanya walk away from the house after the victim left and observed flames coming from the home.
Two other witnesses stated that Tanya came to their neighbor’s residence, stating, “I finally did it; I burnt Gus’s house down.” Tanya then said she needed to hide because the police were looking for her. While en-route to SRJ, Tanya asked the deputy what her charges were. The deputy replied, arson and obstructing. Tanya responded to the deputy and said they couldn’t charge her for arson because she could burn her own house if she wanted to.
Kinzel is charged with obstructing and first-degree arson. She is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 75,000 dollar bond.
