MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mercer County woman is facing burglary and grand larceny charges after allegedly entering her ex-husband’s home without permission and stealing four firearms on May 8, 2025.
According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy J.A. Brooks responded to a burglary complaint on Clines Country Road in the Lashmeet area around 2:07 p.m. The victim reported that a woman entered his residence earlier that afternoon and stole multiple firearms. Home security footage showed the suspect leaving with a bag believed to contain the guns.
While en route to investigate, the woman called 911 claiming she had messages suggesting the firearms were given to her as part of a personal agreement with her ex-husband. She claimed the ex-husband told her she could have guns if she did a sexual action on herself. However, when confronted at her residence on Cabin Branch Road, no proof of such an agreement was found in the text messages she presented.
During the investigation, Deputy Brooks located the stolen firearms inside the woman’s bedroom. The weapons matched the serial numbers and descriptions previously provided by the victim, including a Desert Eagle pistol and two 1911 models, with an estimated total value of over $3,500.
The woman was taken into custody and transported to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department for processing. She is being charged with burglary and grand larceny.
The victim later arrived at the sheriff’s department to give a formal statement, confirming he had received a notification from his home security system and observed the theft on video. He stated there was no agreement or permission given to the suspect, and confirmed she had not lived at the residence for several years.
All firearms were recovered and returned to their rightful owner.
