BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Boone County woman is facing charges after allegedly firing a handgun during a domestic dispute in Madison.
According to law enforcement, officers were dispatched to a home on Second Avenue West after a 911 call reported an active domestic situation involving a firearm. While en route, dispatchers advised that a shot had already been fired.
When officers arrived, they made contact with the woman outside the residence and secured a firearm from her possession. Police recovered a Ruger .380 pistol from her pocket, along with a loaded magazine.
After being read her Miranda rights, the woman told officers she had been arguing with a male individual who had stayed the night at her home. She said she was attempting to make him leave the property when the situation escalated.
The woman admitted to firing a single shot toward a hillside near the residence as the man was leaving. Officers later located a spent shell casing on the front steps of the home, confirming that a round had been discharged.
A witness told investigators they heard the woman yelling and saw the man running down the street before hearing the gunshot. The witness said the man appeared to be trying to hide behind a utility pole at the time.
Authorities confirmed the male involved had been staying at the residence intermittently since December.
No injuries were reported in the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
