SMITHERS, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in Smithers led to charges after a woman was allegedly pushed into a vehicle during an argument with her ex-boyfriend.
According to Fayette County Chief Deputy S.R. Morris, the incident occurred on March 18, 2026, around 2:37 p.m. at Wylodene Apartments on Kanawha Avenue.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the female complainant, who reported that her ex-boyfriend, Dalton Stephenson, — with whom she shares a child — came outside the apartment and began making threats toward her. During the confrontation, she stated the man pushed her from behind, causing her to stumble several feet into the rear of a parked vehicle.
Deputies observed the vehicle and noted it was covered in dirt except for a clean area on the rear, which appeared consistent with the woman’s account of being pushed into it.
A witness at the scene confirmed the incident, telling deputies he saw the man push the woman into the vehicle. The witness also reported that as the suspect was leaving, the woman attempted to record his license plate, at which point he allegedly tried to back his vehicle toward her.
The incident remains under investigation. Charges are expected in connection with the case.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
