WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wyoming County woman told police that thousands of dollars in cash and a handgun were missing after a man who stayed overnight at her home allegedly disappeared before sunrise.
According to a criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to a residence in Oceana on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at approximately 9:34 a.m. Officers, including Oceana Police Chief Tyler Dunigan, responded to the scene and spoke with the victim.
The woman told officers that Russell Paul Martin had stayed overnight at her residence on Tuesday, April 28. When she woke up the following morning, Martin was gone.
The victim reported checking her purse and discovering that approximately $5,000 in cash was missing. She also told officers that her pink .38 Special handgun had disappeared from the same room where the purse had been located.
According to the complaint, the victim stated that she and Martin were the only two people inside the residence at the time of the alleged theft.
The incident remains under investigation.
