SHANKS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Hampshire County woman was arrested on Thursday after an altercation involving a man with whom she resided resulted in a gunshot wound to the leg.
The Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office reports that, at around 1:18pm on Thursday, April 20, 2023, a call was made to Hampshire County 911 reporting a shooting in the Shanks area of Hampshire County.
Members of the West Virginia State Police and Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office responded Frenchburg Estates, the location of the residence at which the incident was reported to have occurred.
Authorities learned over the course of an investigation into the matter that Jill R. Cummings – 44 years old of Shanks, WV – had gotten into an argument with Allen S. Stoler – 50 years old of Shanks, WV – over medication which was reportedly missing.
As the argument was ongoing, reports indicate that Cummings retrieved a .357 handgun which she used to shoot Stotler in the right leg. Stotler, who is reported to have lived with Cummings, suffered a non-life threatening injury as a result.
Cummings was arrested by deputies and was charged with Malicious Wounding and Using a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. Following her arrest, Cummings was reprimanded to Potomac Highlands Regional Jail. Stotler was transported from the residence by Hampshire County Emergency Medical Services.
