CAMPBELL’S CREEK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman faces an array of charges following a Tuesday night traffic stop in the Kanawha County area.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at around 8:00pm, a traffic stop was made by Corporal S.M. Adams on a white Chevrolet S-10 near Gap View Drive and the 500 block of Campbell’s Creek Road in Kanawha County.
The vehicle in question was observed by Corporal Adams to have been driving erratically prior to the stop and was also observed to have defective equipment.
A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and Corporal Adams spoke with the driver, identified as Tiffany L Hedrick, 40-years-old of Blount, WV.
Corporal Adams reports having observed signs and behaviors from Hedrick consistent with impairment, and Hedrick did admit to smoking marijuana earlier.
At this point Hedrick was asked to step out of the vehicle to perform a series of roadside field sobriety tests.
According to official reports, “Once out of the vehicle, Corporal Adams located drug paraphernalia in Ms. Hedrick’s possession and observed an unnatural large bulky item protruding from the front of her pants.”
While attempting to detain Hedrick, the suspect began to actively resist and fight with the deputy. The two fell to the ground as only a single handcuff had been attached. As Corporal Adams was attempting to secure Hedrick, Corporal Adams was kicked in the face which caused injury to the deputy’s eye.
Reports indicate that the “large bulky item” in question was determined to be two bags which contained over 30 grams of methamphetamine which had been packaged for distribution.
A loaded .380 caliber pistol was recovered from the vehicle and a Drug Recognition Expert was brought in to evaluate Hedrick’s condition. Upon evaluation of the suspect, the D.R.E. determined that Hedrick had been too impaired to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Tiffany L. Hedrick was placed under arrest and faces charges for driving under the influence, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, battery on a police officer, obstructing a police officer, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
Hedrick is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail and is awaiting arraignment by a Kanawha County Magistrate.
Reports indicate that Ms. Hedrick was not injured during the incident with Sheriff’s Deputy Corporal S.M. Adams, the latter of whom suffered a contusion injury to her left eye which did not require medical attention.
