MOUNDSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — In one of the more shocking encounters of the week, police were called to 103 10th Street on Monday, April 7th, after a report of a suspicious woman—who appeared to be trying to charge a device using a telephone cable line.
According to the caller, the woman, wearing a Carhartt jacket, was “messing with a telephone cable.” When Chief Mitchell and Pfc. Pedelose arrived around 10 a.m., they found the woman—later identified as Jamie Greathouse—clutching a telephone cable in one hand and an AC/DC adapter (retail value: $11.79 plus shipping) in the other.
When asked what she was doing, Greathouse reportedly said she was trying to plug in her power cord to the telephone line on AEP pole #690C32305—because she was attempting to “contact the real police.”
Things got even stranger when Greathouse refused to confirm her identity, instead pointing to mail on the ground and claiming she was a “Messner.” Officers recognized her from previous encounters and confirmed she was indeed Jamie Greathouse. The package she was attempting to plug into the pole belonged to a William Windsheimer, a resident of 101 10th Street.
When officers informed Greathouse they were, in fact, the real police, she declared they were “fake” and said that if she had a weapon, she would use it to defend herself. As Pfc. Pedelose attempted to detain her, Greathouse pulled a quick one—slipping out of one of her many jackets and trying to flee.
A brief struggle ensued, with Greathouse resisting arrest, but officers were eventually able to place her in wrist restraints and detain her. Her resistance didn’t stop there—she continued fighting while being loaded into the patrol vehicle, kicking the cage and attempting to force the door open.
Greathouse was transported to Northern Regional Jail, where she now faces multiple charges including:
-
Obstructing an Officer
-
Tampering with Public Utility Conductors
-
Petit Larceny
-
Disorderly Conduct
This bizarre attempt to “charge” a cord from a phone line ended not in power, but in handcuffs.
