Pippas Passes, Ky. – WVU Tech could not overcome a slow start on the road Thursday night, falling to Alice Lloyd College 86-78.
The Eagles, who never trailed in the contest, scored the first nine points of the game and led 25-12 after the first 10 minutes.
Trailing by as many as 12 in the second period, the Golden Bears cut the lead to two points on a jumper from Whittney Justice with 4:30 to play until halftime.
Tech could get no closer however and Alice Lloyd pushed the lead back to eight points at the break.
Bri Ball led WVU Tech with 22 points and Brittney Justice scored 16. Whittney Justice added 13, while Alyssa Taylor had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Hannah Kash led the Eagles with 27 points and Haley Hall scored 25.
The loss snaps WVU Tech’s (8-13) two-game win streak and drops the Golden Bears to 6-4 in the River States Conference.
Tech is back on the road next Thursday when it travels to Indiana University-Kokomo.
