PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A man was arrested on Tuesday, May 14, 2025, after allegedly stealing a scooter and trying to mislead police about his identity.
While patrolling near Division Street and Camden Avenue, an officer with the Parkersburg Police Department spotted a suspect matching the description of a man who had reportedly stolen a black scooter from Stroehman Street earlier that day. The suspect, wearing a gray hoodie, was stopped near 514 Division Street.
When questioned, the man identified himself as “Christopher Barker” and provided a false birth date. However, the officer quickly confirmed his real identity as Christopher Richards by checking the address he provided against police records.
The victim confirmed the scooter belonged to her, and Richards was taken into custody on charges including theft and providing false information to law enforcement.
The scooter has since been returned to its rightful owner.
