FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Jeff and Krystle Adkins, owners of Kraken Glass N Crafts in Talcott, will be exhibiting a large selection of their handmade West Virginia glass at the West Virginia Hive Booth at the 46th annual Bridge Day 2026 on October 17.
The Adkins will display handmade stained-glass pieces as well as fused glass pieces, such as hanging decor, night lights, and plant stakes. Each visitor will receive a free handmade bracelet and Kraken Glass N Crafts sticker with its logo with purchase, while supplies last.
“We are thrilled to attend our first Bridge Day,” said Krystle Adkins. “It is very exciting to find an event so close to home where we can share our love of glass with our community and visitors from out of town. We hope to bring joy with our glass that people can take home to remember their experience of Bridge Day.”
Kraken Glass N Crafts launched in March 2026 and is off to a rapid start. “Jeff and I are blown away with how fast our new glass business is growing,” said Krystle Adkins. “After our first official Arts & Crafts Event, we were scouted by the Tamarack Marketplace. We were juried into the Tamarack as Glass Artisans in May, and since then we have created and sold multiple glass pieces. We were proud to be one of 10 artists that participated in one of Tamarack’s larger events for the season, Fall Fest, on September 6. We also have had several stores reach out to us to consign our work in galleries in southern West Virginia. Overall, we are growing faster than we planned yet are so thankful for the positivity and joy people are finding in our work.”
The owners said many people have asked if they could offer classes in glassmaking, so the Adkins are exploring space and looking at ways to allocate time to offer courses.
Krystle Adkins said the West Virginia Hive, the entrepreneurial program of the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority, has boosted the success of Kraken Glass N Crafts. “We just recently joined the Hive this past spring,” she said. “Devon (Fitzgerald) and the West Virginia Hive have been very supportive and encouraged us to move forward with our new glass business. We are beyond appreciative of this support and the sponsorship of our participation in Bridge Day. We look forward to working more with the Hive and learning from their guidance.”
Jeff Adkins was in law enforcement and the military for most of his life until he and his wife converted their glassmaking hobby into a small business. “The process for creating stained glass is not short, nor simple, but it is engaging,” said Adkins. “Because glass work can be somewhat unforgiving, the process teaches me patience and grace. While I thoroughly enjoy creating pieces of stained glass, I also appreciate the delight others will receive from owning and displaying the pieces I create. It is my belief that everyone could benefit from a creative outlet, and for me that outlet is glass.”
A native of New York who studied Arts and Sciences while exploring photography in Hawaii, Krystle Adkins said that her work is inspired by experiences she and Jeff had while traveling across the country in their RV with sons Ethan and Aaron. “Those years of exploring America’s breathtaking landscapes, historic architecture, and vibrant art communities continue to inspire every piece I create,” said Krystle. “Now our home is in the New River Gorge with its mountains, rivers, wildlife, and rich heritage – which are all reflected throughout my work. I hope our glassware brings a little beauty, color, and joy into the homes of our wonderful customers.”
