PIPESTEM, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Several officers from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) were recognized for their bravery during a ceremony at Pipestem Resort State Park on March 19th.
The officers received Lifesaving Awards for their heroic efforts during the February floods, where they displayed exceptional courage in challenging and dangerous conditions.
The officers honored for their lifesaving actions were Petrunger, Mills, Wheeler, Gills, McLaughlin, Buchanan, Fernatt, and Miller, along with Sergeants Stephens, Fitzwater, Faezell, and Captain Dwyane Duffield.
Their swift and decisive actions were pivotal in protecting the lives of West Virginians during the flood response.
Sergeant Faezell was also presented with the Meritorious Service Award for his outstanding conduct, which involved considerable risk to his own safety.
His bravery and commitment during the floods exemplified the highest standards of public service, according to WVDNR.
