MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – For the first time in its 55-year history, the iconic WVU Coliseum has a new name.
West Virginia University announced a 10-year partnership with Hope Gas that will rename the arena Hope Coliseum.

The agreement includes naming rights, sponsorships, and future donations that will provide a significant new revenue stream for WVU Athletics.
“I would like to thank WVU and Mountaineers across the state for this exciting opportunity to continue to invest in the future of West Virginia,” Hope Gas President and CEO Morgan O’Brien said.
“This partnership with WVU honors the proud heritage of West Virginia and will shine a spotlight on our future.”
WVU Athletic Director Wren Baker called Hope Gas “a West Virginia based company with West Virginia values,” adding, “This partnership is an important step in our department’s growth and stability as new revenue generation is vital to our future.”
WVU President Michael T. Benson said the renamed arena represents “a powerful example of what higher education can accomplish in collaboration with businesses.”
Hope Coliseum will continue to host WVU’s men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, wrestling, gymnastics, and rifle teams, as well as concerts and community events.
