MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia University Police issued a Campus Warning on Tuesday, Nov. 26, after multiple reports of burglary and larceny on and near the Downtown area of campus.
Two incidents were reported at university-affiliated properties: Morgan House at 660 North High Street and the Phi Kappa Tau house at 692 North High Street.
In both cases, the suspect entered through unlocked windows. At least one other off-campus burglary was also reported in the same area.
The burglary at Morgan House was discovered early Tuesday morning by employees.
At Phi Kappa Tau, officers uncovered the alleged crime while responding to a separate report of a suspicious person in the area.
University Police Chief Sherry St. Clair confirmed that the department has increased patrols in the Downtown area and will maintain heightened security throughout the fall break.
“With so many members of the University community away from campus, there may be additional cases that have not yet been reported,” Chief St. Clair said. “We urge everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as soon as possible.”
Police have released several photos of the suspect, which can be accessed online.
