MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Lila Palmer, a first-year West Virginia University student from Pine Grove, is one of 10 winners of Sodexo’s national “Grateful Plateful” Sweepstakes.
As part of the promotion, Palmer was awarded a $1,250 donation to direct to a food-related organization of her choice.
She selected The Rack: WVU Student Food Pantry, a campus resource that provides food and hygiene items to students in need.
“I remember hearing about The Rack during New Student Orientation and thinking how awesome it was for students to just come get food and other items whenever they needed them,” Palmer said.
The Rack will use the donation to restock popular food items, including pasta, beans, freezer meats, and fresh produce for its Fresh Food Mondays program.
“We are grateful to receive this donation, especially from a student who chose us specifically and at a time when we have items to restock,” said Sydni Vega, program assistant for Student Engagement and Leadership, who oversees The Rack.
In addition to the donation, Palmer also received a $575 Visa gift card. The sweepstakes allows students to enter by scanning a QR code at campus dining halls, with winners selected at random.
Students will have another chance to participate in the upcoming Stay Connected sweepstakes, which runs from Feb. 3 through March 17.
