BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – As part of its Homecoming celebrations, West Virginia University Institute of Technology has announced the newest members of the Golden Bear Athletic Hall of Fame. The 2026 class includes Marty Wiesler ’07, John Walters ’14, and Nia Nolan ’15.
Marty Wiesler, a native of the greater St. Louis area, moved to Paw Paw, West Virginia, during his youth and attended Paw Paw High School, where he participated in multiple sports. He joined the WVU Tech baseball program in 2002 and went on to post an accomplished collegiate career.
In his senior season, Wiesler ranked first nationally in innings pitched per game and threw two no-hitters, one against UVA Wise and another against Marshall University. He currently works for NiSource and resides in Athens, Ohio, with his wife, Cortney Wiesler, a WVU Tech alumna and former Golden Bear soccer player.
John Walters, originally from a military family, settled in Camden, Delaware, before enrolling at WVU Tech and competing with the Golden Bear wrestling team. Walters wrestled in several weight classes, earning multiple tournament wins and conference titles. He concluded his senior season with a 26–8 record and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament.
After earning a degree in Athletic Coaching Education from Tech, he completed a master’s degree in Sport Administration at Delaware State University. Walters currently serves in the United States Air Force Reserve with the 512th Memorial Affairs Squadron at Dover Air Force Base as a fitness assessment specialist.
Nia Nolan, a Dayton, Ohio, native, joined WVU Tech as a walk-on point guard and became one of the most accomplished players in program history. She set school records as the Golden Bears’ all-time leading scorer and leader in assists. Nolan earned All-American recognition and was also named an Academic All-American.
Following graduation, she coached at both the middle school and high school levels and recently earned her licensed practical nurse credential.
