BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) will host its annual Homecoming celebration this weekend, offering a lineup of events for students, alumni, and the community.
On Friday, January 24, Academic Alumni Award winners and the newest class of the Golden Bear Athletic Hall of Fame inductees will be honored with a banquet at The Resort at Glade Springs. Those interested in attending the awards can purchase tickets here.
Saturday features a full day of athletics and family fun at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. A friends and family tailgate kicks off at noon and runs until 2 p.m., featuring inflatables, face painting, games, giveaways and free food.
The tailgate sets the stage for a basketball doubleheader, with the Golden Bears men’s team playing at 1 p.m. and the women’s game following at 3 p.m. Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Pendleton Community Bank, admission to both games is free and open to the public.
During halftime of the women’s game, Homecoming Royalty will be crowned, and the Academic Alumni Award winners and Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized.
In the lead-up to Saturday’s events, students can enjoy a range of activities on campus throughout the week, including a virtual alumni panel, a game show, and a coffeehouse performance by Matt Mullins. Voting for Tech Homecoming Royalty will also take place during the week.
