BRENTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wyoming County man faces multiple charges after allegedly brandishing a 9mm pistol during a domestic dispute last week.
According to reports from the Magistrate Court of Wyoming County, on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, law enforcement responded to a Brenton residence at which a victim was purportedly being held at gunpoint.
Upon arriving at the residence in question, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputy Perry detained the suspect – identified as 39-year-old Rocky Lane of Wyoming County – while taking a written statement from the victim.
The victim stated that she had been arguing with the suspect over a money card. When the two both attempted to retrieve the card, Lane grabbed a firearm from the same drawer at which point the victim began to run.
Reports indicate that Lane then grabbed the arm of the victim and spat in their face, at which point the victim hit the suspect in the face with a phone. The suspect then grabbed the victim by the hair, slapped them in the face and continued to punch them in the ground.
The suspect then reportedly unplugged the internet connection so as to prevent the victim from dialing emergency services. However, the victim had been on the phone during the incident and a third party contacted law enforcement on her behalf.
Responding law enforcement was able to locate the aforementioned firearm inside the residence. Rocky Lane was arrested and transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He faces charges of Domestic Battery and Brandishing a firearm.
