COAL MOUNTAIN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wyoming County man was arrested Wednesday evening following a domestic incident in the Coal Mountain area, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Troopers responded around 6:17 p.m. on September 3, 2025, for a reported domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Jacob Fortner, who admitted he had been involved in a heated verbal altercation with the victim. Fortner reportedly told troopers that the victim “knew how to push his buttons” and admitted he was ashamed for losing his temper.
Troopers then interviewed the victim, who stated he was preparing dinner when Fortner came downstairs and began yelling profanities and spitting in his direction. The victim said he tried to back away and de-escalate the situation but feared Fortner was going to strike him.
Based on statements and evidence, Fortner was placed under arrest and transported to the West Virginia State Police Jesse Detachment, where he was charged with domestic assault.
