MABEN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after shooting and killing his girlfriend following an argument.
According to a criminal complaint, on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at approximately 10:42 PM, Wyoming County 911 dispatched a trooper to a residence in Maben in response to a reported gunshot wound.
The suspect, Timothy Bennett had called 911, stating that he had shot his girlfriend in the face.
Bennett remained on the line with the dispatcher until officers arrived.
Upon arrival, Wyoming County 911 instructed Bennett to exit the residence with his hands empty.
Bennett complied and was detained by the trooper.
Cpl. M.C. Shifflette with the West Virginia State Police confirmed that the victim was inside the home and had succumbed to her injuries.
Bennett was read his Miranda Rights at the scene. He voluntarily confessed that he had been arguing with the victim.
He stated that after the argument, the victim went to the restroom while he went to a separate room to retrieve a 20-gauge single-shot shotgun.
Bennett then returned and shot the victim in the head. Overcome with anger, he reloaded the shotgun and shot her again.
Bennett was subsequently arrested and transported to the West Virginia State Police Jesse Detachment without incident.
He is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail without bond.
