WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Sunday evening family argument spiraled into a violent and chaotic scene on Indian Creek Road, leading to the arrest of Hunter Walters following a reported domestic incident involving alcohol, gunfire, and a physical altercation.
At approximately 7:39 p.m., Cpl. Jacob Ellison and Sgt. Christian Hedinger of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene after a caller reported a fight between himself and his brother, Hunter Walters.
Upon arrival, deputies found Walters walking across the yard. He immediately handed officers his truck keys and several bullets. Officers noted the strong odor of alcohol and erratic behavior from Walters. Moments later, the caller exited the home, prompting Walters to begin screaming aggressively at him, according to the report.
The caller told deputies he had come home to find Walters screaming and cussing at family members. When he tried to intervene, Walters allegedly challenged him to a fight and attacked him on the ground.
As deputies attempted to detain Walters, he became increasingly combative, pulling away from officers and resisting efforts to place him in the patrol vehicle. Even after being restrained, Walters reportedly continued yelling, banging, and acting belligerently inside the cruiser.
A witness at the scene also reported hearing a gunshot in the woods earlier in the evening. He later found Walters pretending to be dead in the woods and took his firearm into the house for safety. Walters was later discovered hiding under the home, continuing to yell and instigate a fight.
Hunter Walters was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
