WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Herndon man has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of drug-related offenses in Wyoming County.
Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney Derek Laxton announced that Chad Franklin Simmons, 46, was sentenced to three to 30 years in prison following convictions for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine.
The charges resulted from an investigation by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department.
According to Laxton, Cpl. Tucker Cook, Sgt. Logan Cook, and Deputy Matthew Perry found Simmons in possession of a large amount of controlled substances, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.
Deputies also reported recovering more than $18,000 in cash and a 9mm pistol from Simmons during the investigation.
At the time of his arrest, Simmons was already wanted on a capias warrant from Raleigh County.
That warrant was connected to an earlier case in which he pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Deliver Fentanyl.
In that case, he had received a sentence of three to fifteen years in prison.
Laxton praised the work of law enforcement, stating, “This case exemplifies the skill, hard work, and dedication of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office in their fight against the local drug trade in Wyoming County. Our citizens are fortunate to have Sheriff Ellison and his deputies working around the clock on our behalf to serve the county and combat crime.”
Simmons was taken into custody and remanded to the West Virginia Division of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.
