PINEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Judd Stephen Reed, 54, of Pineville, has been sentenced to one to three years in prison for Attempt to Commit a Felony.
Reed pleaded guilty to the charge on January 23, 2025, and was sentenced on March 6, 2025.
The case originated on January 6, 2025, when Lieutenant Willard Hall and several members of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department responded to a burglary in progress in the East Pineville area.
Upon arrival, Sergeant Sizemore detained Reed’s female accomplice, while Corporal Phillips and Deputy Cook pursued Reed into a wooded area, where he was eventually apprehended.
Investigators later determined that the back door of the unoccupied dwelling had been forcibly entered.
Wyoming County Prosecutor Gregory Bishop praised the outcome of the case.
“We are pleased with the sentence imposed by Judge Miller,” Bishop said. “This case stems from an illegal entry into a dwelling. Although unoccupied, a dwelling is a sacred place in our society, and we will aggressively prosecute these crimes.”
Derek Laxton, Wyoming County Assistant Prosecutor, led the prosecution before Wyoming County Circuit Judge Josh Miller.
The investigation was led by Lieutenant Willard Hall, with assistance from Sergeant Sizemore, Corporal Phillips, and Deputy Cook of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department.
Bishop expressed gratitude for the efforts of Laxton, the prosecutor’s office staff, and law enforcement officers involved in the case.
