PINEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Drivers in the Wyoming County area have been advised to reduce speed and plan for delays for ongoing projects this week as workers conduct construction.
An announcement from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department indicates that construction-related road work is expected to be ongoing throughout the remainder of the year, with work having gotten underway on Monday, November 11, 2024, and expected to continue through the month of December.
These changes will be occurring at State Route 16 in Wyoming County and will impact Welch-Pineville Road near the Shentel location.
Construction work is scheduled to occur between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm on Monday-through-Friday, though occasional weekend work may also occur, according to the statement.
In the wake of these efforts, drivers navigating the area may experience a slower traffic pace along with occasional lane closures which are to be expected during the work period. Representatives with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department have requested the motorists consider planning for additional travel time or implementing alternative routes of travel to circumvent any potential speed or delay-related issues.
“The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department asks that you reduce speed as directed and be aware of stopped traffic and construction zone workers in the area,” said the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department in a statement addressing area residents. “Thank you for your patience as work to improve our roads continues.”
The West Virginia Division of Highways is currently hard at work on an array of road and highway improvement projects, many of which emerged as part of Governor Jim Justice’s “Roads to Prosperity” initiative.
