HAMLIN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman is in custody following an armed robbery and shots fired incident Friday at a gas station in Alum Creek, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Trooper J.M. Bryant and Trooper J.D. Adkins responded to the Shell gas station along Little Coal River Road on May 1, 2026, after receiving reports of an armed robbery and gunfire.
Investigators say Rebecca Peterson, 42, of Oceana, entered the store with the intent to commit a robbery and discharged multiple rounds from a firearm before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
Authorities later located and stopped Peterson in Kanawha County, where she was taken into custody without further incident.
Peterson is facing multiple charges, including attempted armed robbery, wanton endangerment, brandishing, assault and destruction of property. She is currently awaiting arraignment.
State police say the investigation remains ongoing.
